So often I see a beautiful dress but lack a “fancy” occasion to wear it. Instead of waiting for the event to manifest, why not plan your own?!
Booking an event space is not as difficult and expensive as you might think. Many venues (like ours!) offer packages that can include as little or as much as you want and need. If you just need the space and can handle everything else on your own that’s great! However if you need all the help that you can get, you can bet there’s a package for that or upgrades to fill in the gaps!
So, you’re all booked in your venue (with us, of course!), what now? Food is the next big thing. Think about the flow or vibe of your event; are you thinking of having a sit down banquet with dinner or passed hors d’oeuvres, or something a little more casual with a buffet or app stations? Some venues (like us) allow you to bring our own food and other vendor services. If you’re unsure who to hire, venues keep recommended vendor lists they’re happy to pass along. If you really just want to show up to party, you might want to consider a full service package or a party plan. Few venues in the area offer party planning services and full services packages (but we do!)
Now that we’ve settled on the venue and satiated your palate we can move on to décor which is honestly my favorite part of planning an event.
I think the most important thing to remember when it comes to décor is that you have options
It is perfectly fine (at many venues) to use your own décor, mix your décor with the venues, or use the venue’s décor exclusively. Just be aware that there may be a fee to use the venues items, however, keep in mind, the venue’s rates for items that you’re using may cost less to you in comparison to buying those items yourself that you may never use again. More often than not the items that you add to a package are set up for you by the venue/vendor staff which can be an extreme time saver and relieve you of stress. Which leads me to my final point, Time.
Time for your event, although my last point; should be high on your list of priorities. Typically in your allotted time you need to determine how long you will need for setup of your event, event start and finish, and clean up time. With all these things considered you may find that you will need to add time to your rental or that the time already included in your rental contract is efficient; which is usually the case when you book a package (especially our 10 hour packages).
All in all, getting to dress up and be around family and friends is well worth the planning (especially if you’re not the one doing the planning) and money that is required to have a stellar event. So, BUY THE DRESS AND BOOK A VENUE!
